Make all Users Visible in Windows 8 Login Screen

Windows 8 supports multi-account similarly as that in earlier versions of OS. If you have a multiple users for your computer then any change in the system can annoys you. Windows always shows the information regarding the user who has last signed out on the login screen instead of displaying all users of the system. However, you can see all the users at the login screen by clicking on the small arrow button in the UI. But this process can be a bit annoying as you always have to click on to sees all users. Here is the tutorial to make Windows 8’s login screen always display all users.

But before proceeding to make any changes in the system one must know the consequences that are once you apply the procedures the Lock screen will be missing. At the startup you can see the login screen.

In addition to this you cannot change the color scheme in PC Settings. Once you have changed the color, perform the steps below.

This process deals with the Windows registry that is we need to make some changes in the registry editor. So, make sure to set a restore point before making any changes in the Registry. Since it is a very sensitive part of Windows deletion of any important registry entries various errors can be caused.

Now, follow these steps to always show all users on the login screen.

  • Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box and type in regedit to open the Windows registry Editor or go to search and type regedit and choose regedit.exe from the result that appears on the left pane.
  • When the Registry Editor opens, in the left side navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\UserSwitch
  • To the right of the entry you can see Enabled value. Simply double click it then change its value in Value data field to ’1′

  • Finally, restart your Windows to apply the change.

To set it back to the setting where you can see only the last signed out user like before, change the value in the data filed to ’0′.

Upon following all the steps described you can see all users that have logged in your computer and even find out hidden user account if any on your Windows 8 system.
