Unveil the Reserved Partition in Windows 7 System

Windows 7 operating system reserves a space of 100 MB on an empty disk or on a new hard disk to store boot files and Windows Recovery Environment files and other important files that are essential for proper functioning of the Windows OS. Windows 7 OS has kept this reserved partition hidden in Windows Explorer. To view the reserve partition on your windows 7 system, perform the instruction given below.

Go to Start orb to open start menu. In the search box type diskmgmt.msc and hit enter key to open Windows Disk Management, where you can see the system reserved partition.

This freeware tool is developed by the makers of popular Windows 7 Boot Updater (i.e. the tool that is used to change Windows 7 boot screen). This tool will let you to the files tat are reserved in the 100 MB partition that was created while Windows 7 installation. This partition is very crucial as it stores all valuable files that are necessary for proper booting into the Windows.

Follow the steps to Open Hidden System Drive

  • Firstly, download Open Hidden System Drive tool from its official site. Make sure that you download the correct version that is compatible with your OS.
  • After the download is complete, double-click on OpenHiddenSystemDrive.exe file to open the hidden, System Reserved partition in Windows Explorer.

The drive may appear void at first as the files are kept hidden and are not viewable by default. To view hidden files, you need to temporarily disable the hide protected operating system files option. To do this perform the following steps.
