Complete Removal of MS Office setup in Windows

You might have noticed that on upgrading Windows 7 to Windows 8, the MS office package also changes i.e. it gets upgraded to MS 2013 from any existing versions. Here is the tutorial how you can uninstall or remove Office 2010 Suites in Windows 8.

Before moving on to how to uninstall or remove MS office packages from Windows 8, first make sure that you have enabled show all items option in the folder option. Many Windows folder remain hidden by default, so open explorer and open the folder options and check the option Show all Folders.

Also, make sure to set a backup or create a restore point on the system before making any changes in the system settings.

Steps to Manually Uninstall Office 2010 Suites

  • Press Windows key + R to open RUN dialog box, type in installer and hit Enter. This will open %windir%\Installer folder
  • In the installer folder window, click on the View tab and select Choose Details from the drop down menu
  • A new window pops out, here check the Subject box, and in the Width of selected column (in pixels) box assign a value of 340 and hit enter

  • Next, move your cursor to Arrange or Sort by in the view tab and then click Subject

  • If prompted by UAC, click Allow to continue
  • Here look for the subject Microsoft Office 2010 and right-click on it
  • From the menu that opens click on Uninstall.
  • Now, again open RUN dialog and type in services.msc and hit OK. This will services window
  • In the window that opens, navigate to Office Source Engine. If the service is running then right click on it and click Stop
  • Finally, close the Services window.

Delete all the temp files on the system and restart your PC.

You can also use Windows registry to remove MS Office 2010 suites. To do so, follow the steps given below
Open Registry by typing regedit in RUN box

In the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 and delete the entry from the file menu.

Finally restart the computer and reinstall Microsoft Office 2013.
