Does your laptop connect to wireless network over wired network? The reason behind why the laptop prefers wireless connection over wired connection is because of the default setting used by Microsoft. The default setting can be changed by changing the Network Adapter settings. Here is the tutorial how you can inform your laptop about which network connection it should prefer or give the priority first.
Many laptops operate on wireless connection with Bluetooth turned on. On disabling the Bluetooth, the wireless connection is also disabled. To change the network adapter setting perform the steps given below.
Go to start orb > Click Control Panel > Select Network and Internet > Select View network status and tasks. Upon clicking View network status and tasks a Network and Sharing Center window pops up. To the left of the screen select Change adapter settings.
On clicking another screen opens, click on Advanced setting option in the toolbar. Under the Adapter setting, you will be notified by an instruction Connections are listed in the order in which they are accessed by network services. Here you can observe that wireless connection are listed first for which your laptop prefers on wireless connection upon wired connection.
To the right of the Connections box you will see two arrows. Highlight the connection you would like to reorder. The arrows which are green means you can move the connection in that respective direction and the one with grey represents the connection cannot be moved in that particular direction. If you want to reorder your connection list, all you have to do is to move the local area connection or any other connection that you want to be recognized first by your laptop can be placed at the top of the list. For example, if you want to move the local area connection or the wired connection, highlight the connection and move it to the top of the list by using the arrows.
Upon following the above steps you can easily change the adapter setting to the wired connection or any other connection according to your need.
