How to Disable default browser Prompt in Internet Explorer10?

You might have noticed once you have launched any Internet Explorer 10 Browser apart from your default browser there is always a prompt referring set IE10 as the default web browser, even if you have cancelled the prompt during its launch for the first time. This is really an annoyance to be prompted again and again upon launching the Internet explorer browser. Here is the tutorial how you can fix the issue.

Every time you launch Internet Explorer you are first prompted to set the browser as your default browser. Follow the steps given below to disable the prompt on your IE 10 Browser.

  • Click on the Start orb and type gpedit.msc then hit Enter
  • Windows Local Group Policy Editor will open. Now, Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer

  • Next, open the Notify users if Internet Explorer is not the default web browser selection

  • Set the policy to Disabled and select OK.

Upon following the above steps any user who logs into the computer and uses IE10 will no longer be pestered by the annoying prompt.
