Not enough Memory Space after installing new HDD – How to fix it?

You never know when your Windows starts behaving abnormal. On replacing original hard drive with a new HDD of same make and configuration, you noticed that Windows showed up error stating unable to detect free space on hard drive or specific disk drive. Although the drive is of same volume still it shows the error. Here is the tutorial how you can fix this hard disk issue.

You replaced the HDD on finding the earlier one installed turn out to be faulty. Even though you use the same HDD as original of same volume, make and model, etc. but still Windows displays error like not enough space on system Hard drive along with C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe – startnet.cmd

This indicates that C: drive space has been accumulated, so a disk part is needed. To do so, follow the steps given below

  • Open run box using Windows + R and type in Cmd and hit enter. This will open Command prompt
  • Type in diskpart /Clean on C drive

Even after trying the above steps you are still unable to fix issues with Windows, try verifying that you have installed or used up your Boot CD, 2 Backup Disks, a Repair Disk, etc. At times it has been seen that failing to install recovery drive can cause this kind of hard drive issue or limited space on hard drive.

Try running sfc/scannow command in the command prompt. This fixes all internal errors in Windows PC. This might help you fix the hard drive issue.

Malware activities can also play disguise and hide spaces on the hard drive. Run Anti-malware program on your system and scan your full system. This might fix your issues.
