Create an Undeletable Folder in Windows using cmd

Can you create a folder that is undeletable? Folders in your computers may get accidentally deleted and cannot be recovered sometime. To prevent such accidental deletion of any important folders you can create an undeletable folder and store all your important files and folders in it. Protect all your important data and files from deletion by keeping them in the undeletable folder. The basic concept behind this trick is by using some Keywords. Keywords are the reserved words in any programming language which cannot be used as names of variables. Windows also uses certain keywords in its programming. Some of them are con, aux, lpt1, lpt2, lpt3, lpt4, lpt5, lpt6, lpt7, lpt8 and lpt9.

Create a new folder in Windows and try naming them with the keywords suggested above. You will find that Windows will not rename your folder to any of the keyword. Follow the steps given below to create undeletable folder.

  • Go to Start and click Run or use the shortcut key Windows Key + R to open the RUN dialog box
  • Type cmd and hit Enter key to open command prompt
  • Type the drive name where you want to create an undeleted folder

  • Then type the command md AUX.

Your undeletable folder will be created in D drive. Now try deleting the folder, but you will not be allowed to delete it rather display an error could not find this item.

To delete this folder again, open Command Prompt and select the drive from where you want to delete the folder. Type the command rd AUX. Now, try deleting the folder and this time you will be succeed in deleting the folder.

Upon following the above steps you can create an undeletable folder in your pc and store all your important data that you don’t want to lose and when not required delete it.
