Yellow Warning shown in Driver – How to fix it?

Driver are needed for proper functioning of a piece of hardware. Driver update is used as a solution to an issue with how Windows works with a piece of hardware. Updating a driver can also enable new or updated features for the hardware. Each hardware item need its respective driver to operate properly. But, many times a yellow warning is flashed in the device manager and the driver fails to operate at certain time. Fix this warning issue by following the simple steps discussed in this tutorial.

Open Device Manager to find the actual location of the fault. Go to My Computer -> Right click -> Select Manage ->Select Device Manager.

If you get any yellow warning sign besides any driver under device manager, then the possible reason for the warning may be the drivers for this device are not installed or you need to update the driver to the latest one.


When the warning is found, then you need to download the respective driver for the devices that are marked. To download the driver, go to manufactures support site and enter your service tag number and download the chipset driver and other that are missing. After downloading, install the chipset driver first.

There are number of drivers listed under the site, always try to install the first one listed under chipset drivers. If the system needs asks for overwrite the drivers, then just allow them to overwrite as it replaces the existing one with the latest one. Reboot the system once the installation is complete.

Again go to the Device manager and find out whether the warning still persists or not. If the warning is prevailing, then try the next procedure illustrated further.

The device on which the warning is displayed, click on it to open the properties. In the properties try troubleshooters, it may get you the possible cause of the warning and solution to it. Follow the prompts indicated by it to fix the issue.

If the troubleshooter doesn’t prove to be useful, then again visit the manufactures site and try downloading the different driver chipset. Install them and restart your PC . After restarting, figure out if the problem still exists or not by going to the device manager.

If there is a warning for the unknown device try running Unknown Device Identifier program to identify actually what is missing in the device driver. This program named “Unknown Device Identifier” enables you to identify the yellow question mark labeled Unknown Devices in Device Manager and reports you a detailed summary for the manufacturer name, OEM name, device type, device model and even the exact name of the unknown devices.

Upon getting the information of your respective device driver, contact your hardware manufacturer for support or search the Internet for the corresponding driver with a simple click. With this utility, you might immediately convert your unidentified unknown devices into identified known devices and find proper driver on the Internet and contact the hardware device manufacturer or vendor. Known devices recognized by Microsoft Windows will also be analyzed independent of the operating system.

Download the co-responding driver needed or that you find to be missing and install them. Upon installation restart the computer, you can see no such yellow mark on the device manager and your computer starts operating properly.
