How to Disable or Enable Close All Tabs prompt upon closing IE

Almost many users out there might have encountered the prompt window asking Do you want to close all tabs or the current tab with options to Close all tabs and Close current tab upon attempting to close a browser window. Sometimes you may not want to close all the tabs but have accidentally attempted to close all the tabs and there this prompt comes in handy as this prompts you and you can select the option accordingly. But, often you may want to close all the tabs of the browser and that time you might be irritated over the prompt. If you are an Internet Explorer user, you might have noticed that whenever you have many tabs open and upon closing all Tabs you are prompted asking whether you want to close all tabs or the current tab, with options to Close all tabs and Close current tab.

However, you are also offered with the option to Always close all tabs. But it seems to be little irritating when you want to close all multiple tab and face the prompt. Depending on your need you can enable or disable the prompt on your browser.

If you have already disabled the prompt from getting displayed but want the confirmation box back or start displaying again, follow the steps described below.

Steps to Disable/Enable Close All Tabs prompt on Internet Explorer

  • With the browser open, click on Internet Options
  • Next, click on the Tabs button

  • You can now see the Tabbed browsing setting, click to check the option Warn me when closing multiple tabs

  • Lastly, click on OK/Apply

Now, Restart your Internet Explorer and open multiple tabs and close them, you can now see the confirmation box like before.

If you want to disable the prompt, follow the same steps as described above but uncheck the option Warn me when closing multiple tabs and you won’t get any confirmation box upon closing multiple tabs on your Internet explorer browser.
